Having a hard time idling

 Hi.  My car is having a hard time idling.  It is a 1986 4KCSQ.  I can turn
it over, but once it gets going, it has no power.  It takes for ever to get
the RPMS up to 1 or 2.  It also sounds like it is backfiring.  I think I am
going to have it towed to a shop, but I wanted to hear what you guys would
say, because I am only 17 and I am kinda on a budget.
