Re: What are some useful gauges for a non-turbo motor?
Thanks for the input, everyone. I'll now share why I wanted three more dials:
I have been searching for a nice radio for the Coupe. CD or cassette does not
matter, I have zillions of titles on both formats. What does matter is: Under
$300 new, and *orange/red lighting*. There is only one possible choice I've
found. It's a Blaupunkt, I have had horrible luck with those reliability wise.
It's also around $320.
So, I began to think up alternates. I have the option to buy a friend's Sony
CD player for next to nothing. It's bright green lighted, though. I thought
I'd mount this in the storage space right above the driver's left knee, along
with a CB later. Out of thieves sight, and unobtrusive sight-wise. I would
then add three more VDO type dials in the radio space, these being red backlit
and not clashing.
I could just blank off the space, I realize, but stylistically I (and my
passengers) enjoy the aircraft feel. And I already ave a nice vacuum gauge,
and want an outside temp dial. So I was after one more to round out the panel.
This would still come out cheaper than the Blaupunkt that I really want to
avoid.
Of course, if anyone has a nice radio in red backlighting they'd be looking to
sell (Kenwoods of a few years back were a particular favorite of mine), I'd
certainly consider it...
Regards,
Rob
