S6 cam pos. sensor
Its back
That customers S6 came back. One hour after pulling in it wouldn't start.
Got a code for the cam position sensor. Half an hour later it did start.
We're going to try for another no start and code and then if we get it
again and again we'll do the sensor and the t-belt etc while in there. The
sensor is $368 for the part so I want to be sure the car needs it.
Odd we never got an engine light as the other cars did. But while talking
to the customer and digging back years to the delivery date I found
something interesting. The car was sold new with an RS2 manifold and
Hoppen Stage 1 ECM installed. I can't think of a reason why but I wonder
if somehow the Hoppen ECM is masking the code. Maybe?
We have other Hoppen cars that sometimes have the engine light on when they
come in, sometimes not. The owners have gotten used to the light being
on. Other than the engine light being out the car behaves as the other 2
no start when hot cars that needed Cam position sensors.
I leave for Scotland on Sunday so I'll only know the outcome on Monday the
23rd.
See ya
