Re: S4 brakes? Wilwood Quality

Hey Daniel,

Just got off the phone with a friend last night who has the Wilwood brakes
that you mention from RPI and says they are amazing. Much cheaper
alternative than just about anything else on the market. Porsche's Big
Reds
are more than that for just front calipers. A lot more. This kit is a
good
deal.

Hey,
I am the person that Dan just got off the phone with=) and I must say that
i am very impressed with the performance of the willwood brakes. one of the
main reasons for getting this setup was the fact that I still have 15"
wheels that i use for the street and did not have the money for another set
of 17" and the pay an additional $1000 for a different brake setup that
for 99.99% of the time is serious overkill. I was actually very happy with
the performance of the g60's and Pagid rs4 pads (orange i think) but at $200
for a set of pads...
the pads for the willwood dynalite calipers are only about $40 and come in
more compounds than you could imagine=)
as far as the calipers flexing I am sure they do flex a lot more than the
brembo's of ap's etc... but in reality if you are not a professional driver
in a F1 car you will probably not notice the difference, maybe? what i did
notice is a HUGE difference in braking and at 2.2lbs per caliper there is a
major unsprung weight savings over the g60's AND they are made of aluminum
so they can disipate heat faster.
well that is my $.02
for the money I think you would have a hard time finding anything better,
especially if you like to do drivers-ed events or very spirited street
driving
