'84 5kS: Battery, engine fan resistor pack
When the sourcing of a fitting vent-tube battery for a 5k was
discussed recently, I saved the articles as I thought I might
soon need the information. As it turns out, I somehow erased
everything, while my battery came up dead this weekend.
So, again, if you bought a 5kS vent-tube battery, where?
(Couldn't find it via search.html, BTW)
Engine fan resistor pack: where is it? I read "on the frame
in front of the rad." to mean somewhere under the top
radiator shroud, in the empty space between AC rad. and
left headlights/grille - but I don't see anything there.
Am I misunderstanding the location, or could it be mounted
elsewhere (83-built '84 model)?
trivia: While car batteries in Europe are rated in Ah, like small
rechargeable bateries, US label show "cold cranking" A,
and possibly other things, but never a capacity. Why?
BTW: it appears (both from a brief glance and the hallowed
Haynes manual) that this car has a 2-pin fan temp switch.
How does that distinguish between the three cooling stages?
(Is the lowest stage actually turned by heat at all, or only by
a/c-on?)
