Re: New car discounts

I won't get started on your basic car salesman...

...but I found the way to test drive ANYTHING. Drive up in a nice
Cadillac Allante. I bought mine back in '94 (when new ones were
stickered in the $70's) It was a high mileage '87 that I picked up for
a song, but salesmen didn't know it. They simply saw "fool with more
money than sense".

I was "forced" to test drive Porsches, Lotus ("really, sir, this used S3
at $70k is a MUCH better car than that new S4 at $65k"), BMW's, etc. I
generally met the dealership's manager in the first 5 minutes. ("Hey
Boss, we've got a live one here") And never once did the salesman insist
to ride along. ;-)

Did I mention I was a 20-something Navy squid at the time? Yes, a black
shoe as well. (The flyboys seemed to drive Hondas ;-) )

Anyway, drive up dressed the same in an old Triumph and get the cold
shoulder...
