urq with 2bennett mc triumphant return... and...
that's right, it's back.
and it drives sooooooo much better. a chipped mc feels
like an animal inside a urq.
he starts up nicely, warms up nicely. acceleration is
the bomb, smooth and powerful. boost builds up to 12
pounds nicely, and the lag and deadness under 2500 or
so that the wx motor had are gone, overall increases
in power are substantial. estimated 220hp.
i also had 2bennett set me up with the abt dashboard
extension. from left to right, boost gage (-15/+15),
water temp, oil temp. next gage project was going to
be (i'll explain later) two more gagues (oil pressure
and voltage) in place of the diff panel, and just put
the diff led's above the knob.
current nex project is suspension and brakes. the car
vibrates like an orgasm when a good firm braking is made.
rotors are shot, and i have steel braided lines for the
job. all of the suspension is shot also, as are bushings
and all that jazz.
the a/c was removed, and now the climate control panel
serves also to turn on the cooling fan, which at the
moment does not come on automatically. this will be
diagnosed in a couple weeks, the car goes in for touch-up
while i am reformatting my personality at burning man.
the original plan was for the next step to be coilovers,
3" downpipe (the 1 muffler exhaust sounds SWEET with the
mc as it is!), konis, larger wheels (fenders are already
rolled), those crazy euros mike williams picked up, and
a redo if the interior wiring to use a modern, blade
fuse panel. also on the slate was new window regulators,
phone and audio redo from scratch, interior soundproofing,
window tinting, ad nauseum.
so, why WAS?!?!
i'm trading it for a cq, in about a month.
ps: if anyone knows where i can find a 1990 or 1991 MOMO
benneton f1 steering wheel and/or shift knob, i would be
MOST appreciative. you will know them when you see them,
they are kind of hideous, red/green/blue/yellow. think
united colors of benneton. anyway, i have terrible taste,
and i want these on the cq.
VERY much looking forward to the historics. just for the
hell of it i am going to stick a huge price on my urq in
the paddock, you never know.
