RE: 86 4ks tie-rod bushings
I just yesterday ordered both front tie rods for my 84 4q from a local shop
I work with. Their cost on them is about $41 each, so they should cost me
$46 each. This is compared to list prices of $131 for one and $186 for the
other. German parts, "Lemforder" I think. Their cost on rear tie rod is $86
each I think. I have considered talking to the shop owner about doing some
group purchases on some common part for Q-list members. The wholesale cost
on some of the part we commonly use can be very low sometimes especially if
it is used on several vehicles, oil filters and air filters come to mind
here.

Subject: 86 4ks tie-rod bushings
Hi all.
Looks like I need to de-lurk for the first time in ages.
So, a bit of extra noise from my aging Audi's suspenison has
been traced to the tie rods. The bushings (inner ends) are
really very shot. Turns out Audi doesn't sell those
bushings,
but rather the entire tie-rod assembly. Anyone know of an
aftermarket source for those bushings? I hate to add two
more
hunks of metal to a junkyard when a couple bits of rubber
would
cure them. Barring that, anyone know a good low-cost source
for
the new tie-rods?
Thanks in advance all.
