If you think Carlsen is bad then don't ever go near Stevens Creek Audi
in San Jose. I bought my cq there back in '92, and even after walking
in and announcing "I want to buy that used cq" it took serious persuasion
just to get a test drive. I wanted the car so much I bought it anyway,
despite it going against all my "principles." Last spring I'd stopped in
to inquire about the TTq and S4 schedules. The answer I got was "we
can get those now". Yea, right. Are you lying or just stupid?
Everytime I've wandered the showroom at Carlsen, somebody at least says
hello, can I help. One younger guy was telling me about all the aftermarket
sources for tuning the 1.8T engine. Another time I got into a conversation
with the Audi sales manager about driving quattros on a track. He had just
gotten back from some sales meeting in Germany and had driven the S4, TTq,
A6V8, S8, etc. and wouldn't shut up about it! While it was obvious that I
wasn't going to buy a car from him any time soon, he was genuinely enthusiastic
about quattros, and enjoyed talking about them. I prefer to buy
from sales people who know their product and are enthusiastic about it.
Compared to the local competition, Carlsen wins hands down.
