let us speak of engine mounts...

maybe I'll learn something.

I just changed mine, all 3 counting the tranny bushing.

The ones in question are the left and right ones. I got a new pair from
Klaus at Atlantic. # 443 199 381 C.

They are "mushy" as heck. Softer than my old left one and it is cut and
bleeding and 17 years old. They were also taller, eliminating the 1/4"
or so "spacer" on top of the old ones. this spacer also incorporates a
rubber cover on the right side one.

Q. 1: are engine mounts like subframe/control arm bushings, a
compromise item where the stiffer they are, the firmer the "feel" but
the noisier the ride?

He is ordering some other ones for me, at least for me to look at...

Q. 2: has anyone else been through this (I'm sure you have!), how did
you get what you wanted, what are the real differences betwen these
parts, etc etc?

when I'm done, if any of this is clearer, I'll put some photos and part
numbers up on the web site...
