RE: No backup lights
Naah ... check the wiring harness at the trunk hinge ... its probably all
busted up. I was amazed at the light show I had on my '85 4kSQ when I drove
it home ... :) ... all due to a whole bunch of wires broken there ...
I recently pulled a harness from a Coupe GT in a wrecking yard to try at the
next opportunity (the coupe actually has a coiled cord to the trunklid) ...
but I'm not sure it has enough conductors for all of the wires on the 4k
trunk. I'm also working to get samples of multiconductor high current
coiled cords ...
I've heard others complaining about no backup lights ... a couple of other
common culprits ... someone misconnected the switches on the tranny, so that
your backup lights come on either when you're in 5th gear ... or when the
center diff is locked. Finally, there is a connector mounted near the top
of the bellhousing which connects all of the switches on the transaxle to
the main harness ...
Should be pretty simple ... good luck!
