Re: 87 5ktq pilot bearing removal/install
The pilot bearing can sometimes be removed by packing the cavity with
grease and driving a rod the size of the bearing ID into the bearing. The
grease gets in behind the pilot bearing and hydraulically pushes the bearing
out as the rod goes in. Safety glasses are in order, of course. The rod has
to be a close enough fit that the grease will not leak out between the rod
and the bearing.
