Lessee - My 87 was chipped at 170K and is as strong as ever at 250K. The 89 was
chipped at 150K and uses no oil at 201K... Now they might not make it to 400K,
but who cares?
The reality is, you will suffer 'some' decreased life, as you're stressing the
engine above stock. Not necessarily above its design limits. Its really
impossible to quantify. Taking care of the car is far more important than mods
when it comes to engine life. I could take a stock engine and treat it like
crap and it wouldn't last nearly as long as a well cared for chipped one.
