New A6 and front end 'bra'

I'm looking to see if any other A6 owners have tried out the
OEM Audi front end 'bra'. I
bought one for use on my silver A6 Q. My experience with
these devices on other cars
(Acura,Sterling,Alfa Romeo) is that they're good for keeping
bugs and stones off the front
of the car, but I've only ever chosen to use them for high
speed Interstate road trips. I do
NOT leave them on the vehicle and never allow them to get
wet if they're on the car.

I put the Audi OEM bra on my A6 and drove a roundtrip
distance of approximately 600 miles.
I noticed the top (hood front) piece's trailing edge
flapping far more than any I've used on other vehicles,
and upon washing the car after I returned,I noticed dark
discoloration lines on the hood at
a spot that lined up with the trailing edge of the bra.

I went back to the Audi dealer (I purchased the A6 less than
3 weeks ago). I was told:
1) we don't recommend you use a bra (to which I'd ask 'then
why the **** do you sell them?')
2) "I don't see no lines"
and other generally argumentative responses.

NOTE: I sincerely hope I get better service from Leith Audi
or the president of the company will
get sick of receiving nasty letters from me.

I finally raised enough hell and got the right people
involved that I was :
1) refunded the amount of the bra
2) satisfied with the detail work they did to clean the hood
of the discoloration. Apparently it might
have been dye in the fabric on the backside of the new bra,
and did not get through the clearcoat.
A simple waxing did the trick.

Now my quandry is whether to try another brand (Wolf or
Colgan) or just use the 'bottom' of a
two piece set (covers the bumper but not the front of the
hood) or just bite the bullet and know I'll
get stone chips (as anal as I am that is not an acceptable
option...)

I've also heard that there are 'clear applique' type
products that may be purchased in lieu of using
a vinyl bra.

Comments ?

Thanks,
David
