I have been
thinking about doing a ufo brake conversion on my ’91 200 tqw avant and have
recently come upon an ’89 200 (non-q, automatic) that was rear ended. The owner
has offered to sell me the discs, calipers, hoses, strut/spring assembly and
c/v joints. So here’s my laundry list of questions, which has probably been
answered before many times in this forum:
- Will the parts from an ’89 bolt right
onto my ’91? If not, what sort of modifications (besides switching out the
shafts on the c/v joints) should I expect to have to make?
- Has anyone ever used a strut/spring
combo from an ’89 on a ’91 and what sort of results have you had (i.e.
ride and handling?)
- If I decide to upgrade my struts and
springs, does anyone have any combos that they would recommend? If I change
out the fronts, should I also change out the rears to match. Has anyone
tried out the s4 rear strut assembly from Blaufergneugen on an avant?
- Ideally I’d like to lower the car about ¾
of an inch. Bad, good or not possible?
- any other suggestions, or warning would
be appreciated.
Thanks in
advance. Please reply or cc directly to my e-mail address.
