I'd have to say an `80's VW Rabbit/Golf GTi. The market is flooded with
them, they're easy to work on and find parts for, aftermarket parts are
plentiful and somewhat inexpensive. But the major factors are they're
affordable, reliable, and practical. Add in the fact that they can look
pretty cool in any livery, ( lowered street racer to weekend rallye
warrior), and I say you'd got yourself a really smokin' ride for relative
pocket change. Sure, you could throw thousands of dollars at it, but you
don't have to. With an Audi, buckets of cash are almost a requirement
for ownership. So why didn't I go with a VW, you may ask? It's because
everyone and their mother has one, literally. All my friends have at one
time or another owned a GTi or Scirroco or Bug and suped it up. I wanted
to be different. No, not just different, but Iconoclastic! So I bought
an Audi. And now I'm paying for it. [8^)
