In DC your local track is Summit Point, WV... a little under an hour
away.  While there is excellent SCCA racing there and I strongly
encourage you to get involved (cornerworking is my favorite), they also
have numerous track days where area clubs rent the track.

Not true "wheel-to-wheel racing", but loads of fun and it doesn't
require any safety equipment except a helmet. Kind of like a "high speed
autocross". Clubs which I know participate are the BMW and Porsche
groups out of DC. (You can run any marque... just expect to take ome
ribbing if it's not the club's brand.)

Speaking of auto-x, there's a VERY active SCCA autocross community in
DC. There's an event nearly every weekend.  They will also be privy to
the club days.

Join the SCCA, get involved!  You'll appreciate your car even more.
