Bad weekend for me
Hello list,
Sunday was not a good day for me and my 5KT. An elderly woman decided to
cross the street at red without even looking. Powerful G60 calipers stopped
the 5KT in time, unfortunately, the speeding guy in a small, sh*tty Citroen
rearranged my trunk. The bumper cover is scratched but in one piece, bumper
is cracked, sheetmetal is bent so the trunk lid doesn't close and the
exhaust is bent, so the car is barely driveable (loud). No one was injured,
though, and I guess it's most important. Fortunately the police found the
guy guilty of causing a collision, so I can finance the repairs from his
insurance. I called the local VW-Audi-Porsche dealer (hey, when it's not me
who pays the bills, why not use the best service facility out there :-) )
and they agreed to take care of my Audi as soon as the insurance company
gives me the estimate (which they are supposed to do at Thursday).
To add insult to injury (or rather one injury to another) some lowlife
broke into our Renault (which we were trying to sell for a long time and
just recently found a serious buyer) Saturday night and stole the ECU from
it. Yes, they ripped the friggin' ECU from under the hood. Golly jeepers,
just to what lengths do those bastards come to make few bucks at someone's
expense. The car was not insured against theft, so I need to find an used
ECU soon. Like I didn't have other problems.
On a positive note, West-MacLaren-Mercedes F1 team organized a big show at
a retired airport near Warsaw. They brought the two-seater F1 car, the
MacLaren GTR which recently won LeMans and a monster 1300hp Mercedes racing
truck. David Coulthard attended the show and took the truck for a short
ride. Unfortunately for the celebrities who were supposed to be given a
ride in the two-seater F1 car, but fortunately for the car crazy
mechanically inclined gearheads like me it started to spit raw fuel from
the exhaust during it's first run and the MacLaren team decided to swap the
engine in it. Watching the factory MacLaren mechanics change the engine in
a F1 car (and I was standing really close) was once in a lifetime
experience. Too bad I forgot to take the camera, the show lasted two days,
I was going to go back there on Sunday, but did I mention I GOT REAR ENDED
WHILE DRIVING TO THE SHOW. So sorry, no pictures. That's all for now, take
care.
