Well I _never_ think of NYC when someone refers to "The City" but it is a
regional thing, I live in Northern California. When someone out here refers
to "the City" it is  San Francisco they are talking about. So maybe NYC was
"the City" in America now it just is "A City" in America.

		Well, NYC really IS "the city" in America....LA,
Chicago...They seem to be 
		known for other things....But when you say New York
City...It has that 
		visceral reaction of being "THE City"
