This appears to be urban legend.  No 1990 200 (q or non-q) I've inspected
(about 10) has the 2-piece installed.  According to Mike Rooney at
Ingolstadt West, they (he) only installed the 2-piece on the 1990 200's as
dealer warranty repairs, whenever the 1-piece 1990's came in warped within
the warranty period.
