Yes, this is true on your 95 A6q.

No. The front has open differentials, and on your 95 A6q, the rear has
a open differential too, except it is manually lockable via the switch
on your center console.
96 and later cars has no more manually lockable rear differential,
but augmented by EDL (ABS-driven). See my post from several months
ago on the generations of quattro.
