Idle Problems haunt my 80
I don't know what it is but the idle on my 80 is never correct. Today
the idle at the market was down in the sub-800 range and was in danger of
stalling every 5 seconds it idled. Sometimes the idle rests at 1k, but
usually 850. Everytime I come to a full stop now the idle dips very low, no
matter how hard I drive, how hard I stop, the idle always goes bonkers.
Then after a bounce or two or three it levels off. I don't know what's
going on with my engine?!? No matter how the mixture is set, timing is
good, no codes stored, always super+ gas, fresh oil and filter, much love
and care, and many new items for fuel system the car always has a minor
problem.
I will reset mixture at shop tomorrow properly since the boys there
don't do it properly, they do it quickly. I think it's also time to adjust
the air flow meter potentiometer, that I will leave to the shop since they
installed a NEW air flow meter 9 months ago. Also now I hear a clunk in the
driver's front end when backing up and turning, will this car ever work
properly?!? For once I am severly angry at the car. Maybe I should get a
Honda;-)
Thanks,
Alexander van Gerbig
