S6 dash backlight replacement

Has anyone ventured to replace bulbs in the S6 dash?  The dealer did it for
me the last time around (under maintenance agreement - so I have no idea
what it actually would've cost).  The manual suggests that the
airbag/steering wheel must be removed first.  But my own swag is that I can
pull the dash enough to get at the bulbs without pulling the wheel.
