South African thing. Here the 5000/100 was always called the 500. There
was one called the 400. It was a type-44 with the 1.8 motor in it. We
had
the 500 (2.2 carb fed, no center reflector between rear lights,
headlamps
with the slanted edge towards the grille), 500E (k-jet equipped 500),
500SE (500E with all comforts, center reflector, and those big euro
lights
up front), and the turbo (or 500 turbo, same as 500SE but with
you-know-what-MC under the hood). The 91- US/Euro 100 (first A6) was
also
called the 500E,SE and SEL (2.8 V6) until 94 I think when it became
known
as the A6.
Does the article on e-bay say what country it was from? I'm not sure
what the Australian folks called it, but I think they also used the
100/200 naming scheme.
