RE: Turbo Swap k24-k26

I just swapped the K24 on my 4000 TQ for a K26. The car now has a little lag
below 3500rpm, which would probably be negligible at sea level (I'm at
5000ft +), but has much better upper mid range and high end power (with
about 14psi boost). This is on a dual knock sensor, higher compression MC
motor with a mild cam, 2-piece EM and 944T intercooler.

I think the only situation where the K24 would be preferable is for
autocross, but for the track or highway driving the K26 is much better in
this application. On the other hand, I think the K24 would really help the
driveability of my nearly stock (chip & spring only) 5000 TQ.

I like the quicker pick-up but it runs out of breath at higher rpms. I tend
not to do the stoplight racer thing, I prefer high speed passing power and
on-ramp acceleration at these speeds I'm already in the 4-5k rpm range and
want MORE POWER!!!

I'm still not convinced that I'm going to get that with the swap to a K26.
In fact most responses have indicated that the swap will provide more power
but not enough to make up for the downside on the lag.

I think I'm going to first try shimming the waste-gate and by-pass the fuel
cut-off relay. This was suggested by my mechanic and he has had good results
with this (he says). Any thoughts from anyone on that account?

blasted and polished. (kind of like cam-cover polishing - only fruitier ;-)

In answer to your question, YES, it whould just bolt right up.
Now my question, why, dont you like the quick spoolup of the
k24???
If you really want a k26 I'd be Happy to trade you. I really
would rather have the quicker spool up. Actually, I'd pay to trade you.
Interested???
	Just curious. L8R
