It is very hard for me to believe that Pentosin is really an improvement
over ATF. The durability of Pentosin systems is miserable, to say the
least. I don't know of any other car where you have to rebuild PS pumps on
40K mile basis (yeah, I know some people will say this is an exaggeration,
there are always exceptions, but the general consensus is that this things
fail frequently). ATF was designed to work in much more harsh conditions
(heat, contamination, pressure) than it does in power steering system and
it's been greatly improved over the years as well. If I had an older Audi
designed to use ATF, I would definitely stay away from Pentosin.
