What I did was to replace the middle muffler with a straight section of stainless
steel pipe:

and repair the original muffler. The piping in the muffler is stainless steel
and the pipe just runs through the muffler box (splitting into two perforated
pipes in the middle of the muffler box) that is filled with fibreglass.
I just replaced the outer skin sheetmetal and removed the fibreglass in the
process.
Sounds just perfect and looks stock with the twin tips that I just love the way
they look.
I also reinforced the muffler by adding supports between the box and the pipes.
Any muffler shop should be able to do it for you (you might need to supply them
with the sheetmetal).
It will most likely be a lot cheaper than getting a new unit or any aftemarket
stainless steel stuff.
I will have the picture of the finished muffler up on my page very soon.
