Euro Harness, Glass and Break ins (long)
Everyone:
Thanks for the info on the Euro harnesses, as soon as I get around to
checking the price on the Jacobs harness I will order one.
The more pressing need relates to a break-in on my car recently. When the
radiator let go on the way home from work the Friday before last, I called
my wife to come get me, figuring that I would let it cool off for a while
then drive the rest of the way home after refilling the rad. Well, I
forgot that Friday night we had promised the kids that we could have video
night, and at 10:30 at night after the videos were done, I didn't want to
drag the whole family out into the night. Figured nobody would want to
mess with a 12 yr. old furrin car, especially directly under one of those
huge halogen lamps at a major interstate intersection. This was error
number 1.
The scum sucking bottom feeders broke out the right side quarter window to
reach the door lock, and when they couldn't reach that way, they broke out
the right side front window. I had everything of value in the trunk, but
didn't manually lock the trunk (figuring I would only be a few hours, not
overnight). That was error number 2.
They ripped off my planner, a 7 yr. old analog cell phone, and my tools.
The cell phone I can replace, the planner I can rebuild, but there was 12
yrs of tools that will be hard to recreate "just the way I want it". And
like an idiot I had taken off the comprehensive insurance coverage during
the last renewal, so replacement is on me. Too much of a hit to claim on
homeowner's ins., I already checked. Error 3.
Oh, and I'm so used to working on my own cars that I never think about
towing, so it was salt in the wound when my wife remembered we had signed
up for Triple A a few months previous, and the tow back to my house would
have been free. Error 4.
Yes, I was livid and spewed a string of profanity for 2 solid minutes when
the break in was discovered - kids stayed in the van, didn't hear me - ,
but there is a bright side: they didn't get the Fuchs, they didn't get the
sport seats, and the Eurolights were at home. I have already replaced the
front window with one from the parts car, but the quarter window still has
duct tape sealing it up till me and the glass guy can get together.
Sorry for the long rant, but I wanted to post this so someone else didn't
have a series of small errors that added up to a big out of pocket expense.

P.S. The loser apparently cut himself pretty bad trying to get his arm
through the quarter window, there were drops of dried blood all over the
back door handle and the Bentley in the trunk. I hope pearl leaves him a
good sized scar!!!
