Re: S4s and 4.2 A6 in CT

Nogaro blue would be my choice for this car too.

I had the great fortune to drive a new S4 last weekend. Gary DeNova (our
AoA area executive) brought an Imola yellow S4 to our local Audi club
meeting. Actually, I missed the meeting because I was on call, but he
called me the next morning and asked if I wanted to take it for a quick
spin..."uhhh, OK!"

The engine sounds wonderful....almost Ferrari-esque. There is no sense that
you are driving a turbocharged vehicle. I quickly realized that the
factory-supplied tires are quite insufficient for this car, though.
Definitely the limiting factor as far as handling is concerned.
Zero-to-sixty acceleration didn't feel _that_ much different from my chipped
A4 1.8T, but 100mph comes up very quickly. The clutch is much more firm
than in the A4. I wasn't particularly impressed with the feel of the
shifter, which seemed a bit "rubbery," but having a 6th gear available is
nice. Although I had read that the brakes in this car were really
impressive, I found they were less impressive than those in the TT, which I
drove a few weeks ago. Another minor complaint: the seating position seemed
too "high". The seats are very comfortable, but even though I spent several
minutes experimenting with the seat adjustment controls, I still felt as if
I had less headroom than in my A4 (I'm 6'2" tall FYI).

It may sound like I'm nit-picking, but let me say that I would buy a new S4
in a microsecond if I didn't already have a '99 A4. With some minor
software tweaking and appropriate tires, this new S4 will be phenomenal.
