    I have had a similar experience with Autotech out in California.  Early
last year I set out to find a camshaft for my 80 and I found a HOR
Technologies that is made for all VW 4 cylinder application 8 valve
configuration in the Autotech catalog.  I called and talked to someone and
the first sentence was, " What kind of car is it?"
Audi 80 4 cylinder.
Response was, "We don't sell parts for Audis."
Trust me the camshaft will work sir.
Response was, "Sorry sir I can not sell that item to you unless it is for a
VW application."
    I gave up and called an hour later and told them I had a Jetta II with
the 2.0 block.  They sold it to me right away, no questions asked.
Installed the camshaft and it works just fine, actually the mechanic who was
replacing the leaking valve cover gasket called Autotech to ask what timing
and mixture would be best with my engine, they were quite mean to the
mechanic and told him they couldn't help.  Funny thing is that when I looked
through the Autotech catalog they actually have a bore and stroke kit made
specifically for my engine.  Made for people that swap the Audi 80 3A into
other VW applications.  Should have mentioned that to them over the phone.
