RE: 5ktq-Gremlins
Cassidy,
I'm not sure about chasing down the gremlins. Sounds like you
have the equipment needed. You may also want to get a long set of wires
with aligator clips at the ends or on one end with the recepticle for the
Multi-Meter on the other. This way you can test things int he engine
compartment and other locations while youa re in the car flipping the
switch, etc.
Anyhow, for parts, there are many MUCh cheaper places other than
the dealer. For prices on most things I find The Parts Connections to be
the best. Call ROD at TPS at 1-800-472-1144. He is very helpful and has
great prices. Tell him you aare on the Q-List and I think he knocks a
little extra off (not sure, maybe is is normally that cheap). His Web
Address is www.thepartsconnection.com
Also, I sometimes get parts for Blaufurgnugen. I have found (this
is NOT fact, only my personal findings) that on MOST things they are a
little more than TPC but still very cheap compared to anyplace else.
Check them out at www.audiquattroparts.com. or call (920) 758-3232.
Blau also has a good selection of aftermarket goodies for your car such as
shocks, Brakes, etc.
But if you get serious there are many tuners out
there such as Intended Acceleration, QLCC group for Chip Mods to get more
power, 2-Bennet, TAP, AMS, etc, etc.
Anyhow, if it is a dealer only part then CARLSON Audi in
California gives a Q-List discount which helps a bit on really expensive
stuff like that.
L8R and good luck

When I step on the brake pedal or turn on the headlights the same two
alternating warning lights flash. The owner's manual tells me to check
brake
pads and lights. Everything checks out. How do I even begin to hunt this
one
down. I possess a volt-meter that I have used once and am fairly capable
of
complex thought. Is this enough to chase Gremlins?
Also, failed state safety inspection for worn part in rear suspension.
Mechanic can't come up with a name. They are bushings that the outboard
end
the the rear tie rods link into. The housing looks to be attached to the
hub,
and a bolt runs though a cylindrical extrusion where the tie rod end and
bushing are. Mechanic says $160 each from the dealer. What is it called
and I
know there are cheaper ones out there. Any one? Any one? Bueler?
