RE: '83 Ur-Q for sale...

Buchholz, Steven decided to speak these words:

>... I'm not fooling myself into thinking that I could get anywhere near that
>sort of money for my car, but I can't say I'd label anyone who asked that
>much for their car foolish ... perhaps they really don't want to sell the
>car _that_ much.

yeah, as soon as i started working for the dealership and the used car
manager figured out that the UrQ was mine, he immediately asked what i
wanted for it, i told him at least 13k. He laughed, i said, well, i dont
really want to sell it, but if i did, it would be enough to immediately
get another one and do the same stuff to it that i have done to my car
and still have a bit left over.

Fact of the matter is that the blue book value of a car with the numbers
that the UrQ has will not be all that accurate. From what i know, the
kbb value is based off of average sale prices and such, well, if one UrQ
sells for 12k and then there are 3 on the market that are crap, (which is
very likely because i have not seen TOO many fabulous UrQ's), and sell
for 5k or so, then the value of the urq ends up being something like 8k.
Well, the NICE ones are still worth a LOT more than that... With import
numbers as small as that of the UrQ, you cant really go by the KBB, i
personally wold be willing to pay about 14k for a PERFECT UrQ with low
mileage... Of course, i already own a very nice example and i only
payed, well, you guys dont want to hear that again...but im sure i could
turn around and sell my car for a pretty nice profit--the difference is
that i have NO plans on selling my car, EVER. Its going to stay in my
posession and its going to be built up into one of the fastest, best
handling, and most beautiful UrQ's ever seen. So, drop me a line about
this in say, 5 years and then see what you think the value of my car is...

The UrQ is a strange car, i have driven i think 6 now, and not one has
felt the same...i got lucky and happen to have a VERY nice one that has
proven to be very reliable, but i know people that arent so lucky...
That is why you have to take them on an individual basis...if i found
another one with the same type of feeling in the controls that mine does,
i would probably buy it in an instant...the very few people on the list
that have driven my car know what i mean....

later...
