What are the recomendations in going about removing this piece?

I have my serious doubts about how much more power you could expect with
this modification. Frankly, I think there are much better ways to improve
power in a turbo charged motor, such as increasing boost. In fact, I was
playing around with a throttle body off an 84-85 turbo, and attempted to
unscrew the wedge while cleaning it, and to my surprise, the bugger's head
just twisted off! To my knowledge, the screws are crimped on the back side
so they do not fall off (imagine having one of those screws go through your
motor, much less that wedge!) I ended up filing the holes with JB weld and
am done with it. I would say leave it, and increase boost another 2 PSI to
more than make up for what you hoped to gain...
