I'm not familiar with your exact model, but usually they pop out when you
pry from the top or bottom edges. Are you sure that the switch is bad?

The relay might be bad, but I would be more suspicious that the relay thinks
that one of the doors is open. Do you have the light on the dash that comes
on if a door is not fully closed?

It may be something you don't want to dismiss lightly, but I think that all
of my Audis other than the V8 have pumps that are louder than the engine at
idle ... and the only car I've ever had to replace a pump on is my 1978 Audi
Fox. AFAIK my 1983 Audi QTC is still running on the original fuel pump. In
some cases there are screens that keeps small crud from getting into the
pump, and these screens can get clogged. I don't know if the 90q is such a
car, but you may want to look into this before ponying up the $$$ for a new
pump ...
