That's certainly possible ... I only know that they *will* bolt onto the car 
as I had a pair on my '85 4k racecar to use as plugs for pulling molds.  For 
that matter, the early trunk lids will also bolt onto the later cars although 
they do leave an unsightly gap between the bottom edge and bumper cover ... 
of course, this also comes in handy if you plan to mount the radiator in the 
trunk!  (Gee, I wonder where he got *that* idea from?)
