RE: R-134a Specs Request ('88 5KS)

Problem is, I can't find the low-side service valve, and the service
valvenear the condensor/accumulator, in front of the radiator, which I
think ishigh side, will only take one can of R-134, which is 340 ml. Car
needs 85%of 1,100 ml R-134, and 1 can of oil. Is it that I also need to
blow all theR-12 out of the system, and how can this be done (I think it
was empty whenwe attempted the charge), or I am connecting at the wrong
place (and wherewould the right place be)?? What am I doing wrong?? Help!!!

The service valve is located under the plastic cover on the right side near
firewall. Remove the low pressure switch 15mm if I remember and connect
there. The adapter may have to be installed using an "audi unviersal wrench"
(water pump pliers) as it is a tight fit. You will have to jump the wires
from the valve to make compressor work. This is the safest method for
filling. You can't leave the adapter on, but it is easier than crawling
under the car. Make sure you add the 134 oil. This is what I did to a 87 5k
and it has been fine for 2 years. No seal changes.
