However, you can get york compressors on the aftermarket with R-134a
compatible seals, and they work just fine and dandy. My parents have
an '85 Quantum that's been running R-134 in it's york based system
for years now. Of course, it did just require a compressor
replacement, but I think that had more to do with a poorly
remanufactured compressor the first time around than the refrigerant.
If anyone wants details as to how this was done, send me a note, and
I'll explain.
