Window tint removal.

My son and I and a friend just spent a lot of time doing the rear side
windows and the heated backlight in the Mazda portion of my fleet. I
used a heat gun to heat the glass (with great care and a lot of
movement) and just peeled the side ones off. NEW razor blades followed
by lacquer thinner and then glass cleaner helped finish the job. The
backlight was a PITA. Used a lot of fresh razor blades and ALWAYS
scraping parallel to the heater lines did the trick. The rear tint came
off in 2 layers. In fact, parts of the side ones did too. It was easier
than the tint shop guys said, harder than I wanted it to be. Use at
least as much patience as you can scare up, and take your time. It
helped to have one guy on the outside heating the glass, and a slightly
angled blade holder (I got mine from Mac Tools) is a must!

BTW, the tint job was 11 years old, and had begun to separate (blister)
on the backlight. That part gave us the most trouble. If I did it again,
I might pay the tint guy to do it.
