lights

jeff the 84 came with the quad headlights but was upgraded to the euros...i
have now downgraded the 84 to my aeros from the 86 5kcdtq. the euros which
are now on the 86 5kcdtq look identical to the ones shown in the first pages
of the haynes manual (uk 100) the lenses on my "new" lights required a new
grille with sloping sides. the lenses bear the following #'s..centre..hella
and above it d o t. inside centre...16v and above it 10h. along the bottom
beginning at the left edge...ssb 314.....301-131092, and to the right
bottom...sae h85.

they have totally changed the front appearance of the car. actually they
look as though they should have been there all along. changing them was
_much_ easier than i had expected. now for the relay panel.

My understanding was that in 1984, in Canada, you could not get any form of
Aero styled lights whether Euro or otherwise, because the laws on the books
at the time only allowed sealed beam headlights to be used on cars. My
parents picked up what's now my '84 5KS in Europe, and I remember thinking
how shitty the headlights (and bumpers for that matter) looked compared to
the Euro type 44 cars. Those quad headlights work ok, but they really date
the car.
