When the AC compressor froze up on my 5kcstq three years ago, I cut the
belt off to stop it from burning up. It's been running that way since. If
I use "auto" or "bi-level" on the heater control, I sometimes get a moment
of belt squeal. Happens most in really wet weather. I occasionally spray
a little belt dressing to the generator and power steering belts. I
suspect the "auto" and "bi-level" settings call for some power surge that
makes the generator belt slip a bit momentarily.
