Here in Norway, Europe, most cars are allowed to tow at least their
total unloaded weight, something that will be a bit over 3000 lbs for
my '87 5k.. And I have it on the license registration.. This is for
trailer with brake only.. Trailers without brakes is half the weight
(1500 for my car), but not over 1650 lbs.
You need a extension on your license to tow heavy trailers, when the
GW of the car and trailer exceeds 7800 lbs. If you will drive a
car/truck with a GW of more than 7800 lbs, you need another extension,
and for trucks over 16600 lbs, you need a truck driver's license.
