Yes, it did. It was one of at least three (don't tell the poster) that
were used as exhibition pieces by dealerships. The most recently
registered carries an "R" plate and is owned by one partner in a very
famous advertising company. It was recently stolen and severely
damaged, and my advice was sought by the local dealership here in
sourcing some parts for it. Allegedly, there is still one ur-quattro
unregistered. The going price for these cars is about GBP40k at first
registration, which makes the GBP22k asked on the newsgroup look like a
tough deal.
I had some discussions with people involved with the "R" plate car, and
they confirmed my opinion (certainly about the MB and RR cars) that age
is just as important as mileage. You wouldn't think a car that had
never left a showroom would fall to bits, but that's exactly what
happened in certain respects. Almost all the rubberware had to be
replaced immediately.
20V ur-quattros (and there are some registered in 1990 that have still
lower mileages than the car in question - I know of one with only 7000
miles) fetch ridiculous sums. A GBP11k premium over an MB?
