A turbo dosen't create much heat, the little heat that the bearings produce
is washed away by the oil. With high efficency turbo chargers most heating of
the intake air is mostly caused by the fact that as a gas is compressed it
gets hot. A turbo is a device that converts waste heat and pressure into work
or horsepower. It does this by forcing more air into the engine to produce
more horsepower. One drawback is that turbos concentrate and absorb heat
produced by the engine. Some diesel engine manufacturers attache a turbine
impeller directly to the crankshaft, which is a little more efficient than
using it to compress air.
