RE: Nakamichi MB-75
Beware the allure of the Nakamichi name. Please note going into this
diatribe that I have not owned a Nakamichi product in 10 years. Having
said that, I had nothing but problems with both my Nakamichi automobile
units -- basic stuff like switches that failed and cassette tape drives
that worked erratically. Additionally, I was the owner of an early
(mid-1970s) Nakamichi home cassette deck, perhaps the 500 or 600 model, I
don't recall which. The slant-cabinet styling and black face was
seductive, but one channel failed within a year.

A friend bought this unit earlier this summer.
It sounds great, but he had a lot of trouble with it. The first unit he
got skipped a lot, almost every little bump. (he has a stock VW golf
gti vr6). Frustrated, he sent that back (after having the installation
checked). He was frustrated because he expected better from a $800
piece of equipment.
The new one he got didn't skip as bad, but after 1 month a mechanism
inside of the unit failed, so he couldn't retrieve any of the CDs.
Frustrated again, he returned the unit. After 4 weeks, nakamichi
returned his CDs.
This time he just got his money back instead of exchanging the unit for
a different one.
Good luck!
