Yes, they know! Want proof.
Yesterday I park the 100 in the local Audi Dealer's lot for an
appointment to test drive an A6 2.7T. Salesman wheels the A6 around
front, in full view of the 100 and we take off, returning about 20
minutes later. Oh, do I lust for a 2.7T, but...that car _will_ kill me.

So, I hop into the 100 and off we go. 500 ft. from the dealer, at a
stop light, the idle starts bouncing around. This continues for about 3
miles, then stops. No codes. I guess its just waiting for my next
move.

2.7T test drive impressions:
What a motor! Huge amounts of power w/virtually no lag.
6sp is like silk and suspension is firmer than the 2.8 - wish that were
a 2.8 option. 4 pot front brakes are amazing. All in all, the
difference between the 2.7 and 2.8 A6 is noticeable, real noticeable and
I don't just mean speed wise. Kudos to Audi for keeping 2.7T prices
reasonable, ~$2900 more than comparable A6q, so with judicious choice of
options you can get a 2.7T for just under $40K MSRP.

As for me, I decided against a 2.7T but will order the A6q w/5sp, the
minute AoA gets allocation.
