CIS Problems unsolved, mistake on my part
I posted before about an assumption about my leaky hose, now as I am
rethinking it isn't right at all. I pinched a hose and it made a nasty
woosh noise, this to me meant vacuum leak. Now that would indicate that
unmetered air is getting into the intake manifold, thus causing a lean
mixture, thus leading to a negative DPR current. If unmetered air was
getting in it should have been a positive current change. More air, DPR
compensates with more fuel, more current. Negative current means the DPR is
leaning the mixture out, so there isn't any extra getting in, it is my hand
cutting off a regular source of air.
Now this prompts another question about the emission control system.
The hose in question that may or may not be leaking is connected between the
intake manifold and a small "T" connector. This small "T" connector is for
the carbon canister system. The "T" is connected to the first carbon
canister selenoid, the valve cover crankcase vent hose, and the questionable
hose to the intake manifold. Now should this questionable hose to the
intake manifold, should it be allowing a steady flow of unmetered air in
during operation? Got that?
Thanks!
