I have the same car - '90 Audi 200 Turbo (non-quattro) in good to fairly
good condition. No dents, leather is perfect everywhere except driver's
seat where it has worn over the last 10 years. Most everything works. Auto
tranny and torque converter replaced recently. The A/C blows cold and the
heat blows hot. The list of parts replaced over the last 20K miles is
extensive:
New water pump
New timing belt
New brake pressure accumulator
New transmission
New torque converter
New battery
New power steering pump
New alternator
New front strut inserts
New upper strut bearings
New A/C Blower Motor
All books and records/receipts.
The short list of things that don't work:
driver's side seat heater
rear driver window inoperable (possibly a bad switch)
cracked speaker cover on lower passenger side door
Last year, when the car had 150K miles, I was trying to sell it for $4600
and had an ad in the Philadelphia Inquirer for about 1 month. I didn't even
get a phone call. I placed the car on Classifieds 2000 and didn't get any
response either. The car now has 161K miles on it and I've decided to hang
onto it. I won't sell it for $1000 - it's worth much than that to me. I
hope your friend has much better luck than I did selling his car, but it
sounds like $7K is a bit high.
