Re: using oil RE: Fwd: A look inside 200k mi. engine

I have to disagree with this. I have an 87 5000 TQ with 155K miles on it and
it does not use any oil that I can tell, including track use where the oil
temp reaches 250 degrees F which is more than enough to burn off
moisture.(this includes 2 days of driving at Watkins Glen with myself and a
friend driving the car in a different run group and then driving the car
back to south carolina all without any loss of oil on the dipstick) I have
owned the car since 61K miles and have always used Mobil 1 with factory
filters changed about every 3-4K miles depending on the type of driving I
was doing.
The car has been chipped for 3 years now with a IA chip and 14psi boost. Who
knows maybe I am just lucky, but my car does not consume oil to the point
where it is noticeable on the dipstick.

PS I had the oil pan off a few months ago to install the newer style oil
pickup and the pan was very clean as was the underside of the engine for
whatever that is worth.
