Spiral Spring Smushed

Hello friends.  Once again I take a step forward and back again.

While replacing the hi/lo beam switch in my 1990 200, I managed to get the 
"spiral spring" (a really demented piece of design, IMO...) crossed over itself, 
with the result that it chewed itself up quite nicely.  

I discovered this because the air bag light started going on and off  - 
fortunately it didn't go off.  It is now disconnected at the plug under the center 
console to make sure an accidental deployment does not occur.

Anyone out there have a spiral spring from a compatible vehicle??  The part 
numbers visible on the spring (they are slightly chewed) are:
?24 31 002

Or I can do the wrecking yard thing, I s'pose.
