A few niggling problems with a 100q
Greetings,
I'm hoping a few of the more knowledgeable Type 44 people can point me in
the right direction. I've been fixing up a 100q that I saved from the saw.
It's biggest problems were lights and a leaking PS system. A new set of
euros, a pump reseal kit, and a Jorgen rack helped. But they're not quite
solved yet.
Currently I'm suffering from the Pentosin Volcano. All archives seem to
indicate a leaking or faulty PS pump. Well, I resealed the pump, and no
leaks yet, except for the shaft bearing/seal. I did not replace that when
I resealed the pump, and Mr. Murphy, always on the job, made sure that
leaks. At least I think it leaks now. The rack went in without any real
problems (well maybe a few choice words, but those are usually what get the
job going again), and for $150 was worth it.
The other remaining problem is a recently acquired high idle. I've gotten
it with the engine warm and cold, but it doesn't happen all the time, just
most :-( It goes down if I unplug the ISV, and plug it back in. I seem to
recall doing that tells the ECU to ignore the ISV until the next restart.
I ohm'd out the idle/full throttle switch and they still have continuity
at the correct positions, even though when I pulled the ECU codes a while
back it threw me a "Full throttle switch" code.
Suggestions to quicken the fix process? I plan on pulling the codes again
tonight. If I get a chance I'll hose out the ISV as well.
Thanks for the input. I'd really love to put these behind me, as winter
draws near, and I want to put the SO into a big, safe Quattro before it
arrives.
